7 Women Inspiring Me Today

Girls rule. A lot has happened in the past year that has brought us together to rally around each other, and although not always under the best circumstances I’m here for it.

So it being International Women’s Day and all, I thought I’d take a moment and recognize a few boss babes inspiring me today. There are infinitely more that could be added to this list, but let’s start with the basics.

1. My Mother

Cheesy, I know. But my mom is *literally* a boss. Not only does she run the American Kennel Club’s agility program, but she’s been an amazing role model for my sister and I since day one by crushing it in every leadership role she’s ever had. Her traveling for work and occasionally bringing us along was a huge influence in my infatuation with travel, and for that I’ll forever be grateful.

2. Sallie

If you’ve never met her, my sister Sallie is one-of-a-kind. Truly. She is an incredibly intelligent, well-spoken firecracker and will always tell you like it is. To have her in your corner is like having a life coach bully in the best possible way. A natural born leader currently killing the college game, I can say without a doubt this kid will move mountains.

3. Melissa

Forever a superstar, Melissa’s currently pairing her two passions–running and special education–to raise $1,500 by running the Falmouth Road Race for the May Institute. To support her and the unbelievable students she works with every day, click here.

4. Justina

Aka little sister, Justina is probably one of the most incredible writers of her generation because she puts her heart and soul into it. Every. Damn. Day. Honest, empowering, and unapologetic, she’s already doing great things like working with the New York Times, Teen Vogue and NPR and it’s only going to get better. Also, her insta is fire.

5. Maura

My friend Maura is one of the toughest, smartest people I know. Not only did she persevere to pass one of the hardest tests known to mankind, the National Physical Therapy Exam, but soon after moved herself to Hawaii. Hawaii! And continues every day to put herself out there, explore the world and make friends despite being thousands of miles from home.

6. Sherene

Also forever a boss for one reason or another, Sherene’s not only killing it as a certified CPA at work but with her incredible involvement in the community. From her work as the 2017 Miss Cranberry County to volunteering for the Boston Marathon every year, she’s got her life together and I love it.

7. Emma

Okay okay. Just one celebrity I promise. Emma Watson deserves a shout out because not only is she doing incredible things for women’s rights internationally, but sustainable fashion awareness. Ditto for @recesscity for her work promoting environmental fashion and travel through her blog and social media.
